In a weird bit of synchronicity with my recent viewing of the "Family Guy" Empire parody (Something Something Something, Dark Side), this morning it was announced that George Lucas is pairing with the Robot Chicken creators (Seth Green and that other guy) to produce an animated Star Wars series that will basically spoof the mythology.

Lucas describes it as a look at the ordinary, day-to-day lives of the characters - sort of a behind-the-scenes look.

I don't really know how they'll do better than that Robot Chicken blip where Luke and Leia are in bed and Leia says "That was so wrong."

I actually think the Robot Chicken guys do a better job of the SW parody. That bit with Senetor Palpatine with Darth Vader on the phone nearly brings me to tears.

"We haven't even finished paying off that thing yet!"

"You want my cole slaw? I'm not even going to eat it."

You're echoing my own thoughts, Omote. Robot Chicken spoofed Star Wars; Family Guy more sort of did a Family Guy episode with Star Wars trappings.

And yes, that Vader/Palpatine call is the nuts shit, where Palpatine is ragging on Vader to his friends about Vader crying. What really caps it is at the end when Palpatine looks sort of shifty and lowers his voice and says "...I love you too."

My favorite Robot Chicken sketch, though, is the one about the two pre-Columbian dudes setting up the trap from the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark. "Is that a giant fucking boulder?" "You bet your ass it's a giant fucking boulder!"

Haha, I have never seen the Raiders one. That is funny as hell. Haha
